By Mike Vagnoni The Bogside Rogues are a veteran Irish Rock group and they are based out of Philadelphia. This group is knowned for their upbeat sound while maintaining their authentic traditional roots. The band is made up of 4 excellent musicians, and with their experience, the band can ring out a variety of Irish and Celtic styles of music. From rebel songs, to ballads and throw in the traditional dance songs ( Ceili ) and con- temporary Irish songs. The Bogside Rouges do it the right way. I can openly say that the members in this band are tops in their fields. Bob Hurst on( Accordion, Tin Whistle). He is a master on the squeeze box. When Bob is in the center your eyes just can’t help by focus in on his style of play. Tim Murphy on (acoustic guitar and vocals)...is magical with his fingers up and down on the acoustic guitar. Fran O Connor on( bass guitar and vocals )adds to the bottom of the band, his bass playing drives the band and works in harmony with the Drum- mer Bob Finegan. Bob sets the tempo of the songs and is always right on time with a strong beat. The Bogside Rogues are a powerful sounding band and one you should check out. You can see them on July 17th at the Pennypack Music Festival at 7pm. That night they share the music duties with Jamison. The Bogside Rogues are regular players at Paddy Whacks Irish Sports Bar, Reedy’s Irish Tavern, in Northeast Philly and down in Center City you can see them at places like the Tir na Nog and at the Fido’s Irish Pub. They also play at many Irish Festivals in the Tri-state area all year long.
